Muhirwa Gabo Oreste
Software and systems engineer designing secure digital platforms across mobile clients, backend APIs, realtime communication, and data workflows, with a focus on reliable delivery in real operating conditions.
Designing secure, explainable systems from user channel to backend service, data flow, and production operation.
Connecting mobile clients, backend services, data flows, and operational constraints into maintainable production systems.
Android + iOS + web
Realtime communication
API boundaries + JWT
Constrained networks
Optimizing for low-end devices and variable networks so mobile products stay usable, smooth, and efficient in real conditions.
Designing clear failure boundaries, useful logs, release visibility, and documented recovery paths so teams can diagnose incidents and improve reliability.
Security is part of the product itself. I favor protected API flows, careful data handling, and dependable system boundaries from the start.
I like structuring systems so product teams can move faster, features stay maintainable, and platforms scale without becoming fragile.

Jun 2023 — Present
Developed and deployed a citizen-facing mobile platform for secure access to city services and documents.
Built native user experiences with Jetpack Compose and SwiftUI for real mobile workflows.
Integrated LiveKit (WebRTC) for secure real-time video consultations between citizens and public-service staff.
Worked across mobile clients and backend APIs to support reliable service journeys end to end.
Implemented JWT-secured API flows to protect sensitive personal data.
Optimized app stability and responsiveness for low-bandwidth environments.
Improved the experience for users on entry-level smartphones and constrained devices.
Focused on production-ready reliability for public-service and citizen-support use cases.
Member registration and fee tracking were still heavily manual.
Student records for foreign residents depended on fragmented processes.
National exam and language-course data needed a reliable migration path.
CDAFAL / Mulhouse City / France | Jan 2023 — Jun 2023
Engineered internal automation tools for member registration and fee tracking.
Built a responsive Vue.js interface backed by Spring Boot services.
Developed a custom C++ ETL tool to migrate and process exam and language-course data.
Digitalized student-record management for foreign residents, replacing manual workflows.

Three days of architecture, backend, mobile, AI, tooling, and engineering-community conversations. I focused on ideas that translate into more reliable digital platforms: scalable Kotlin systems, observable production software, explicit API contracts, and performance for real devices.
Sessions on Amazon's Kotlin Multiplatform adoption connected mobile platform design with operational consistency: shared capabilities, native SwiftUI and Android experiences, modular boundaries, and feature parity across mission-critical applications.
Spring Boot 4 and Ktor sessions sharpened my thinking around null-safe APIs, serialization, dependency injection, third-party integrations, and API documentation that remains useful from design through production support.
Conversations around Sentry reinforced why production systems need actionable error context, release visibility, performance signals, and a clear path from an incident to its root cause. I am carrying those practices into how I design, debug, and document systems.
Koog, MCP, cloud models, and on-device inference showed how agentic features can be integrated into strongly typed applications while keeping orchestration, privacy, and system boundaries explicit.
Compose Multiplatform sessions on rendering, adaptive interfaces, and asset pipelines reinforced a practical rule: performance, battery use, memory, and bandwidth must shape the design from day one, especially for inclusive digital channels.
